Weekend Getaway to Douliou City, Yunlin | Saturday June 11th 2011

My Chinese teacher, 美妤, (MeiYu) invited our class to join her and her family at their weekend home in the country.
We took the train north to Yunlin for an amazing and unique Taiwanese experience.

Our first stop was at a very famous temple. 美妤 showed Jessmaya and Adriana the temple ropes.

And good night!

Kaohsiung 85 Tower

Kaohsiung has its own skyscraper that dominates the architecture of the otherwise low lying sky line. The Splendor, or The 85, as it's nicknamed, is rumoured to align with the political-left of south of Taiwan. Facing west, the somewhat aggressive design of the domineering building, appears to give the almighty finger to Mainland China.

The postcard you get when you go up. It changes seasonally.
There is a postbox on the 85ft floor to mail it.

MIT port. The tankers in the distance float on the horizon.

Water turns to sky.

 Practice drills.

My apartment is here, just right of the giant A1 advertisement
